I’ve only ever had the one credit card. When I log into the online portal for my account I can see statements back to 2009. I’d always wanted to do something with that data but never found the time. When the latest update to Codex with computer use dropped over the weekend I knew it was time.

The online portal for my credit card listed 200 statements with links to the associated PDFs. That’s a lot of links to click. No one has time for that.

Live UV App Android Edition

The Android edition of the Live UV app is now available on the Google Play Store.

In summer in Australia, the UV levels are extreme in the middle of the day in most of the country. This is the app you need! Remember to use sun protection whenever you are outdoors and the UV index is 3 or above.

A friend who loves to travel posed an interesting question - would it be possible to visit all of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in a single year. This had the potential to be a fun coding exercise, so I set to work.

First, we need to load data about all of the sites on the World Heritage List including their precise locations. Fortunately this data is provided on the UNESCO website in a number of formats including XML.

In Australia we have the highest rate of skin cancer in the world. The sun, especially in summer, has an intensity that many people from the Northern Hemisphere would never have experienced.

I have seen many older relatives require treatment for skin cancer. Sun safety is drilled into kids from a young age - the Slip Slop Slap and Me No Fry health campaigns are fond memories from my childhood.
